Welcome back to the Mobile Home Park Podcast! Today is a very special episode, as we’re joined by a very illustrious guest! Gene Norman stops by on behalf of the SECO conference 2021. SECO21 “is an amazing event where you can really learn how to change your mobile home park business”.
Many of the relationships that I’ve built throughout my career came from SECO events. This year’s iteration will be a little different than previous ones, as it will be digital. But that won’t stop us from building meaningful connections and advancing culture. Learn more below!
Virtual Happy Hour
Living in a post pandemic world is sure to come complete with some challenges. That said, the power of technology has allowed efforts like these to keep pushing forward. While you might think it poses a major restriction, it may even prove to be a better proposition!
Of course, there’s no substitute for interpersonal interaction. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t add incentives to make the best of our circumstances! Take the virtual happy hour that The Esterson MHC Team will be hosting. You read that right! The conference organizers will coordinate a mixologist to send participants a drink recipe. Then, we’ll all raise our glasses at happy hour as a toast to our shared, favorite industry!
The Power Of Virtual Conferencing
When it comes to “virtual… you have a lot more flexibility,” says Gene. As one person, you can only be at one place at one time. But in a virtual setting, you can see everything! Whatever aspect you find interesting, you’ll have the space and capacity to indulge.
Have you ever been to a conference and received a ton of paperwork? It can be a nightmare to keep track of. This is especially the case if you take interest in multiple aspects of the event. Now, this issue is a thing of the past! The digital aspect allows you to record documentation and even video to share ASAP.
Working Out The Kinks
As we all know, 2021 was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. Things were uncertain and tumultuous, to say the least. But, things persevered and the conference was able to occur virtually. That said, they were also able to get a good read on what worked and what didn’t work. This helped organizers to refine the process, making for an even greater effort this year.
“It will be a better experience than last [year], which was okay. But this is going to be even easier to navigate.” First, you’ll be able to reach people discreetly using the chat function. Also, you’ll have access to the WHOVA app. The conference has used this for a few years now. It allows you to “interact directly from the panels,” notes Gene.
